My Handsome Fellas

While trying to get shots of Nevan's new sleeper, Knut decided he needed to help him smile.

Nevan's Sleeper

A project that I've had in the back of my head since I saw these embroidery designs and the fabric, I knew exactly how to put them together. One of my most favorite patterns to make is what I call a "butt-flap" sleeper. Since Nevan had outgrown his birth sleeper from the same pattern, I decided that he needed another one, and this one would be perfect for a little explorer.
I used a little kid pirate flannel and a set of Pirate Peekers from Julia's Needle Designs. There's a design on the hat that says "Ahoy! Mate" and the front side has a pirate peeking from his cutlass and the butt says "Where"s me treasure?" with a pirate peeking from the x marking his treasure.

This is the front when he's on the floor:

This is the back, with the "butt-flap" saying "where's me treasure?" with a pirate peeker:

It's Snowing

This weekend our weather was cooler than the previous with temperatures in the 70's. For some reason Sunday afternoon, Knut announced that it was snowing outside and that he needed to put on his hat and gloves. Keileigh saw what was happening and had to get dressed for the snow too.
Look how strong we are!

Cute Little Girl

The other day I was finally able to do some cleaning in my sewing area and while I was putting away all the blessing outfits, Keileigh saw the dress and had to have me put it on her. Surprise, surprise, it still fit. I'll post other pictures when I can get Keileigh in a good mood and a good day outside to wear it again.

good big brother

Keileigh has been having some problems lately doing things all on her own, so she goes to Knut if Mommy isn't readily available.

Here Knut is helping her put her sandals on.

At the park, he didn't want to swing on his own, he just wanted to help Keileigh swing and pushed so gently.

Keileigh's Bunny

I just finished a project for Keileigh that she loved. It still needs a strip of velcro to help keep the rice bag, but other than that it's done. I used a pink silky fabric and embroidered a K with a rose on one side and her name on the other. She started jumping up and down when she saw it and chose the ribbon for the bow. Knut has declared that he needs an animal of his own now to go with Mommy's dog and Keileigh's bunny.

New Discovery

Nevan found one of the best things to play with lately is really close by and can never be lost, his toes!

Just for Keileigh

Keileigh and I got to go on the balloon ride together and I thought this deserved it's own section. This is the ride just looking at Keileigh, but the ride is really just sitting in a basket of a balloon and then rising and going in a circle.

Finished Pajamas

Well, I finished the kids pajamas and they had to model them immediately, they were so excited.

Lots of Fun

The project that Nolan was working on yesterday was put on hold and since he didn't have much to do, he took the afternoon off and we went to Knott's. It was the perfect day to go, there were barely any lines, mostly school trips that were leaving when we got there. We picked up a pizza on the way and had a picnic with the chickens. But we forgot that naptime hadn't happened, so there were some problems with fussiness when it was time to get off some of the rides. Quick snacks helped and the double stroller with a spot for tired feet to rest helped too. Then as we were leaving the park, Nolan suggested eating at Mrs. Knott's Chicken Restaurant. We've never done that before because the line has always been so long, it's usually out the door and around the building. We walked right in and were seated right away. The jell-o on the kids menu was a hit with Keileigh, but the lack of naps had caught up with us and Nevan wanted to explore and Knut was upset because his chicken came with mashed potatoes and corn not french fries. Nolan said it was my Mother's Day dinner and I got to get whatever I wanted, so fish it was. I was the only one who got to eat all of their meal, but only because Keileigh fell asleep in my lap after drinking her milk and eating her jell-o. We had to load up the stroller and take everyone back to the van to go home and the cat naps were apparently sufficient that we had chatter coming from Keileigh and Knut. Nolan also remembered that there was a Metrolink station on the way home and we stopped to watch some trains pass by. A busy afternoon, but lots of fun.

Projects

Last week while at Walmart, Knut and Keileigh noticed some new fabrics and they each had to pick up the bolt of fabric and carry it around the fabric department before we had it cut. Keileigh picked a pale blue Dora and Boots with butterflies and Knut picked Diego with baby Jaguar. Knut's modeling his shorts. Mommy was told she had to make something for them, so we found a simple quick to make pattern for scrubs for pajamas. Nevan likes to sleep with something covering his face and Knut's fabric was within reach. Then my sewing machine started acting up and we went in search of a new inexpensive replacement for just a little bit since the main sewing machine is sewing/embroidery and has had a lot of usage. Here's the new one next to Keileigh's half finished top. But this little one was on sale at Big Lots and does just the basics: a straight stitch with one small locking stitch at the beginning and that's it. The size difference is just funny. The other project shown here was one I made for the fun of it. I saw the embroidery pattern and knew immediately how I wanted to finish it for hanging and the exact fabrics to use for it and everything. This is what I do when I get those few quiet moments all to myself. Little amounts of time spent well can create something awesome.

Busy Busy Bumble Bees

Life can definitely be overwhelming with three kids and trying to keep my sanity, but we're surviving. I know I haven't posted for a while but when one kid is sick and then the other and they both feel like they're the most important thing that mommy can be taking care of at any given time, it can get really frustrating for mommy. Keileigh was sick two weeks ago with a tummy bug that lingered for several days and then Knut was sick the following week with something else. We had a really busy week with the young men/young women dinner and auction, an awesome RS meeting with Mary Ellen Edmunds, family birthdays, meetings and running errands. So it's nice to finally have a quiet day at home with the kids who have started playing on their own together, giving mommy some quiet time. Knut has also started requesting Mommy fun time when Keileigh and Nevan take their naps, which has become a great time to work on letters and numbers and is just a special time every afternoon.
