More Cute Kids

There are definitely sometimes when my kids drive me bonkers and then there are some great times when we have a lot of fun playing. This past week was kind of both with so much family time and other things going on. I had a major sewing project I undertook and had only Friday to work on it. And guess which day the kids decided they needed Mommy the most on? Knut had to play with only Mommy, not Keileigh and Keileigh wasn't feeling good, so she wanted to snuggle and we think Nevan might be starting to teeth and he just wanted sunshine, which has been kind of rare this week with some overcast days and some rain. But right before lunch, I had the brilliant idea to take them outside and see what they wanted to get into. Guess what they wanted? Two buckets of water. That was it. But they did stop fussing. And then Daddy came home and brought lunch from the deli at Vons with yogurt for the kids and we got a picnic outside. That helped immensely with attitudes and got the kids worn out so that when I said it was quiet time, they were willing to listen.

Future Gamer

Now, Nolan is an awesome guy and I love him to bits. But sometimes he can be kind of quirky. He can let Knut and Keileigh whine because he knows they're just trying to get attention. But as soon as Nevan starts to fuss, he immediately has to go pick him up and snuggle with him. A couple of nights ago, after the first two were in bed, Nolan and I were getting ready to play a little WOW before bed and Nevan started his "I'm really sleepy but not quite ready to let myself fall asleep" little cries that will quickly lead to sleep, but because I hadn't placed him in his bed yet, Nolan had to pick him up and let him watch the computer screen. He was entranced and forgot all about sleep. At least, until Daddy gave him back.

Outfits From Grandma

My mom is awesome. When they came down this week, she actually handed me Knut's birthday present all wrapped and ready to go and a fun pan to make his birthday cake. His birthday isn't until July and I haven't even started to think about what we're going to get for him or how we're going to celebrate. She also gave the kids some fun summer outfits and a letter for each of them. Keileigh loved the letter more than the outfit and had to hold hers to read it over and over. She would pick up the envelope and say, "Grandma," and then pull the letter out, unfold it and say (as if reading it), "Grandma, Grandma, Grandma." Knut immediately had to put on one of his new shirts that had a car on it, but he didn't want to stand still for a picture.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter! I know that's a little late, but I've been a little under the weather and a lot happened on Sunday. Nevan was blessed, but I don't have any pictures of him in his tux yet because right in the middle of the meeting, he pooped straight down his leg. All of the Tolman family was here and some of the Parkers got to make it too. It was great to see everyone, if only for just a little bit. We also had an egg hunt for the little kids, which was definitely an adventure. Gary and Abigail just enjoyed running around and being outside and the older ones knew to investigate what was in the eggs. Keileigh was just adorable in her new dress. Then almost after everyone left, the elders stopped by. I had forgotten that Nolan signed us up to feed them. But that was ok, since we still have leftovers we're trying to use up.

Just Right

My page a day calender this year is all about Muppets. Today's page fit rather well with how I've been feeling with all of the cleaning and kids and everything we've been doing this week.

Sewing Projects

I posted recently about getting to take apart Nolan's favorite overalls and remake them into a purse. Well, that first cut was kind of nerve-wracking since I wasn't using a pattern or anything but an idea in my head. But I finished it and discovered that it was the perfect size to hold my scriptures and the bare necessities for church. And it's also fun to explain where it came from too. The front is from the bib of the overalls and the back is from the front pockets. One side is from the carpenter pockets down the side and the other is the loop where I can put my cell phone. The shoulder strap is the shoulder straps sewn together. I saved the back pockets to make another purse, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
Another project to share is that I am working on something Keileigh calls a "nuggle dog". Here he is looking a little flat because I haven't decided what will go inside of him or how since I want to make a hot/cold pack insert for him to make him just right for snuggling on a cold night or to help soothe the owies.

Nevan's 3 Monthes

This is a little late, but we got to take Nevan's three month pictures recently, its fun doing something special for little things.

The Beach

Last Saturday we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. The day was definitely packed full. We started out at the Quilt, Craft, Sew Festival in Pomona checking out sergers and then headed to the mall to pick up our pictures and then down to the theater Nolan is working on. The theater is also located just a few blocks from the beach. The kids were really excited to get to play in the sand. In fact that's all they wanted to do. No water for them, just lots of sand. We then headed down to spend the evening with Allan, Neil and Christina. We played a new game killed Kingsburg and had dinner. Unfortunately we didn't get home till after midnight, but it was a lot of fun to spend the day with our family doing things that make us happy.

Family Pics

With an expanding family, trying to get family pictures is definitely an adventure, but I think this one was worth all the fuss we had to go through to get the kids to sit still.

happy handsome

Nevan is such a happy boy, it amazes me sometimes to be helping a screaming fussy Keileigh to look down and see his smiling face. And this time he smiled for the camera.
